Payroll Giving

Benefits for employers

There are very real business benefits to offering Payroll Giving to your employees. Payroll Giving provides you with opportunities to:

  • Enhance your Corporate Social Responsibility profile and boost your reputation
  • Show commitment to good causes such as Cancer Research UK
  • Make it easy for your employees to give tax efficiently, and in doing so demonstrate that you care about the causes they want to support
  • Increase your business' charitable giving with little cost or effort. Once Payroll Giving is in place, you will be able to monitor the level of donations that your company has helped to achieve.

Matched giving

Matched giving is a powerful and popular way of encouraging employees to sign up to Payroll Giving.

Your company decides the matching amount, which typically ranges from covering administration fees through to double matching of all donations. The matched amount is then added to the employee donations, giving employees an extra incentive to start Payroll Giving and make their charitable donations go further.

Celebrating and promoting your success

Payroll Giving efforts should be communicated to your employees, stakeholders and the wider world. There are programmes and awards in place to help you recognise and celebrate your success:

  • The Payroll Giving Quality Mark is a programme that recognises and rewards organisations for making a difference through Payroll Giving. Find out more about the Payroll Giving Quality Mark on the Payroll Giving Centre's website.

  • The National Payroll Giving Awards showcase the best Payroll Giving schemes from UK employers at a special annual event. Find out more about the National Payroll Giving Awards on the Payroll Giving Centre's website.
