Employee fundraising partnerships

'together' is the charity fundraising programme for national builders' merchant Jewson Limited.

Part of the multinational Saint-Gobain Building Distribution, Jewson is a fast growing UK-wide business, with a workforce of over 10,000 and several sister brands. together's aim is to unite staff, customers and suppliers, in support of a common cause.

Cancer Research UK worked with Jewson Limited to deliver an exciting and creative partnership which has exceeded expectations.

A very successful partnership

Staff voted to support Cancer Research UK, hoping to raise £200,000 during a one year partnership. After the first year, staff were so engaged with the cause and impressed with the support from the Corporate Partnerships team that they extended the programme to a second year. They have now raised over £550,000.

A fresh approach to employee fundraising

Fundraising activities have been hooked on a series of cancer awareness and prevention messages, keeping the campaign fresh throughout. Activities have generated real team spirit and focus at branches and offices.

Jewson employees have taken part in many national fundraising events to raise money for Cancer Research UK, from the Great North Run to prison sleepovers. Male branch staff even donned pink tutus for breast cancer awareness month!

A staff payroll lottery raised over £20,000, with five lucky monthly winners winning £200. A National Raffle raised £35,000 with prizes for customers and suppliers.

Taking fundraising to new places

Cancer Research UK organised two overseas challenges to truly unite staff, customers and suppliers.

29 trekkers climbed Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa, and a group of 27 navigated the snowfields of Iceland. Some trekkers were motivated by having lost people close to them to cancer, others by the sheer challenge.

These events brought together colleagues from all parts of the business and developed relationships with suppliers as they shared tents and tears, exhaustion and exhilaration.
