Transcript for the 'Smoke is Poison' advert

This transcript accompanies the 'Smoke is Poison' advert.

The advert is set in a laboratory.

[Donal MacIntyre] A dangerous workplace?

[Dr Avtar] We have to pay due respect to all the materials that we handle. Protection is paramount.

[Donal MacIntyre] The benzene there, is that poisonous?

[Dr Avtar] If there were benzene fumes in this laboratory we would ask for a full-scale evacuation.

[Donal MacIntyre] If other cancer causing chemicals escape here, what would you do?

[Dr Avtar] We would don respirators, we'd have a full protective suit on and we would deal with the spillage.

[Donal MacIntyre] So, you've got benzene, arsenic, formaldehyde – and all these are in cigarette smoke.

[Dr Avtar] That surprises me.

[Caption] Cigarette smoke contains 69 cancer causing chemicals. Where there's smoke there's poison.
